About the role:
The Deal Desk Manager drives operational excellence across the deal execution lifecycle and serves as a strategic partner to Sales, Finance, Legal, and Product teams. This role ensures that deals are structured to be profitable, compliant, and scalable, while helping to accelerate sales cycles.
This individual will be part of a two-person Deal Desk team in Japan, supporting complex commercial negotiations across new business, renewals, and services. They will manage deal approval workflows, ensure pricing consistency, structure non-standard agreements, and champion continuous process improvement. The Deal Desk Manager collaborates closely with their Deal Desk counterpart and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure all deals are structured, priced, and executed in alignment with company policies, commercial objectives, and regional requirements.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Co-own and support the Japan Deal Desk function, including deal structuring, pricing approvals, contract review, and coordination with cross-functional stakeholders.
Partner with sales teams to develop optimized deal structures (pricing, discounting, terms and conditions) and support the closure of complex and strategic opportunities.
Work closely with finance, legal, and product on standard and non-standard deal terms, pricing models, and contract language to ensure deals are compliant with corporate policies and address any potential issues before final approval.
Evaluate and approve non-standard deals, balancing customer needs with business objectives and compliance requirements.
Develop and maintain deal approval matrices, policies, and guidance documentation.
Continuously assess and improve deal desk processes, tools, and workflows to improve turnaround times and deal accuracy, implementing best practices for deal management.
Generate reports and analyze deal metrics/KPIs. Identify trends and opportunities for process improvements to enhance sales efficiency and deal profitability.
Facilitate training sessions for the sales organization on deal desk processes, policies, and tools.
Serve as a CRM and CPQ subject matter expert, driving enhancements to improve scale, speed and accuracy.
Ensure data integrity and documentation for all approved deals and support audit activities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a similar role, such as deal desk management, commercial operations, finance.
Able to communicate (verbally and in writing) in both Japanese (business level) and English (conversational level)
Deep understanding of Enterprise SaaS business models, pricing strategies, and contract structures.
Proven track record managing complex contract negotiations and approval processes.
Experience partnering effectively with sales, finance, legal, product, and executive teams.
Advanced proficiency with CRM, CPQ, contract management tools, and other sales technology platforms.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and high degree of business acumen.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Comfortable driving change and process improvement.
Professionalism and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
